Well, its official! We are open again for standard dental procedures! Woohoo! It's been a long two months, but we are happy to say we have our entire team back and ready to go! An update to our patients: Our staff met today to talk about our future plans to re-open our office for non-emergency procedures. At this time, we are remaining closed for non-emergency care, and are awaiting recommendations that come from our governor, the CDC, and CDA. In the meantime, we have developed a plan to keep our patients and staff safe when we return to "normal" operation. This game plan will be available for patients to view if they would like to know about the changes we have made. As we continue to see emergency patients only, we are aware that many of you are anxious to get in for your preventative procedures! We understand, and are anxious to see you all too!! We will continue to update you as changes happen, and will notify patients as soon as we can begin our re-opening process. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

As of 3/16/2020: Out of respect for our patients' concerns regarding COVID19, Mullen Family Dentistry will be following the guidelines set by the California Dental Association, and only seeing patients on an emergency basis for the next two weeks. Our intention is not to create fear in our patients minds, but rather to simply follow guidelines set by CDA. If you had an appointment with our office in the next two weeks, we will be calling you to reschedule. In honor of National Dentists Day, we want to take time to tell you why we appreciate Dr. Mullen!!! If you know Dr. Mullen, you MUST know he is funny and outgoing!! He keeps his patients and staff laughing on a regular basis. He is also very kind and compassionate!! He also does excellent dentistry, very skilled." Tasha- "Aside from keeping an upbeat personality and fun working environment, he has a big heart to help all patients. It's not just a job for him. It's who he is. Compassionate and caring." Valerie- "He is always making us laugh and keeping work a relaxing and fun place to be. Love how passionate he is about helping his patients." Rachael- "He is excellent at what he does, knowledgeable, and always gives from his heart. I've never seen him make a patient feel like they weren't heard. He truly believes in providing a life changing service to everyone he meets, plus he's so fun to work with! Just a genuinely good person." Bella- "He is such a funny, upbeat person. He keeps us laughing all the time and truly cares for every person he meets. He doesn't just come to work to do a job. He comes to change people's lives." This patient presented for a professional cleaning yesterday and asked his hygienist about whitening his teeth. Upon looking in his mouth, it was apparent that he had a moderate amount of stain on the lingual (or inside) portion of his teeth. Likely from tea or coffee drinking. The good news? The patient did not need professional whitening to remove this stain. The stain this patient had is called "extrinsic" stain. It forms on the outer surface of the teeth and although this can eventually soak into the teeth and become "intrinsic," it was easily removed by his hygienist with ultrasonic and hand scaling. Good thing he was already there for his cleaning!!! Intrinsic stain is the overall dark appearance that your teeth may have after months or even years of absorbing pigments from food and drink. This is typically when we will offer professional whitening gel that soaks through the teeth, brightening them inside and out! Not all intrinsic stain can be removed with whitening gel. In some cases, intrinsic stain can be an indication of something else going on. It may be a defect in the formation of the enamel due to trauma or other factors while the teeth were forming. It may also even be due to decay forming inside the tooth. Whatever kind of stain you may have, our team is ready and willing to find a way to get you that perfect smile you've always dreamed of. We love seeing our patients walk out feeling brighter and more confident than when they came in.
